Prince Kong – c4035 Video
Jan 13th, 2010 by mmr

Here’s a little blast from the past and the Middle Management Recordings archives. Sounds weird to say ‘archives’ when we only really just got going but there you go.

This promo film was shot in Dublin, Ireland by the wonderful Kavi to accompany Prince Kong’s killer sci-fi, thrash metal track ‘c4035′.

c4035 was released in March 2009 on Prince Kong’s debut ‘I Make Me Rigid’ mini album… still available from all good download stores.

Enjoy.

More Well Sick Reviews for Prince Kong
Nov 30th, 2009 by mmr

And yet more good reviews come in for ‘Proper Horror Show’, Prince Kong’s quintessential dosage of dub grime nastiness.

From Boomkat.com…

What do you get if you cross the DJ Producer with Diplo and The Bug? Maybe something close to Prince Kong on ‘Proper Horror Show’. After a couple of storm-troopin ragga cuts for Alphabet Set and !Kaboogie Records he’s made an even more uncompromising effort for the newly minted Ghetto Quietly label, reeling between bushwacka Ragga-gabber on ‘Angsta’ feat Jah Balance, to hyper-Soca rinseouts featuring MC Quilombola on ‘Whailt’ and ‘Cazz’. It’s fair to say there’s not really owt around like this so it’s the finest example of this style that you’re going to find.

boomkat.com

… and Kong also has several other releases on the go at present.

This is what the nice chaps at Wire magazine had to say about one of these in the October ‘09 edition…

“Cool single mixing classic reggae topping with a screwed up industrial underlayer. The tension between the forces is hypnotic.”

Proper Horror Show is available as download and 2×12 inch vinyl from all good stores.

Ghetto Quietly Launch Party – Prince Kong, Bluefood and A-Force
Nov 3rd, 2009 by mmr

MMR’s new sister label Ghetto Quietly launches in Dublin this weekend with a rock solid line up of Prince Kong, Bluefood and A-Force peddling their sonic wares along with various MCs.

Prince Kong’s ‘Proper Horror Show’ on 2 x 12 inch vinyl will be the label’s first release and expect much of the material from this release to feature in Kong’s set.

Dublin based Ghetto Quietly will concentrate on limited runs of vinyl for local artists… thus far: Prince Kong, Bluefood and A-Force. Expect GQ vinyls to coincide roughly with MMR digital download releases for these Irish artists.

Perhaps not so much a sister label as a bastard cousin.. the one your Mom never wanted you to hang out with as they were from the wrong side of the tracks!

Lorin MMR – Kick Down the Statues Radio Show – Episode 2
Oct 3rd, 2009 by mmr

It’s time for the next episode of my radio show ‘Kick Down The Statues’. This will be broadcast on Proton Radio this Monday, 5th October at 10am EST/7am PST/3pm GMT on the excellent B-Sides show hosted by DJ Chloe Harris from Seattle.

The show features everything and anything; something old, something new; and a load of exclusives from forthcoming Middle Management Recordings artists and releases. No rules, no boundaries… just great music.

The first half begins with truly amazing Scottish band The Aliens and finishes with major label catastrophes, Mumm-Ra. No stronger argument is needed for the current deconstruction of the mainstream music industry – both these bands should be/should have been massive. The Aliens are currently working on LP number three right now and Mumm-Ra sadly split last year. ‘She’s Got You High’ has to be one of the most perfect indie-pop records ever made – and if anybody at their label had any clue as to what they were doing – this should have sold by the bucket load.

Sticking with the Seattle theme… this is also the debut outing for new MMR artist, nineteen year old Holly Prothman. Expect her debut solo release sometime next year… and she will also be fronting and providing vocals for my own project under the ‘Aviatrix’ moniker.

Elsewhere, there are more exclusives from MMR in the shape of Phylum Sinter’s ‘Ansi Ansios’ from his forthcoming ‘Detroit Nocturnes’ ep expected in November… and hot on Prince Kong’s heels out of Dublin – the amazing Bluefood with his stunning ‘Beau Breaks’.

We conclude with some peak time mayhem – CDJJJ’s ‘Fencing’ and Acid Girls “The Numbers Song’ providing the hands in the air and rump shaking moments.

Hopefully there’s a little something for everyone here.

Kick Down The Statues.
